The Chinese Government Scholarship — usually called the CSC, after the China Scholarship Council that administers it — is the main government-funded route to study in China. Depending on the scholarship and year, it can be fully or partially funded, covering tuition and often accommodation, a living stipend and medical insurance. There are two common ways in: the Bilateral Programme, applied for through your home country's authorities, and the Chinese University Programme, applied for directly through a university. Either way you still need admission to a Ministry of Education-recognised university, and you apply on the official CSC online system within an annual window (commonly early in the year for a September intake).
